Today, we’re excited to introduce "Mebukiya Kashiwa Mochi - Chunky Red Bean Paste"!

Mebukiya’s Kashiwa Mochi is a natural-style Japanese sweet made with domestically sourced, pesticide-free or low-pesticide ingredients, and crafted without additives. Each piece is carefully wrapped by hand: flavorful chunky red bean paste (tsubuan) is enveloped in a chewy, fine-textured rice flour dough, then wrapped in fragrant oak leaves. It offers a gentle, nostalgic flavor that feels both simple and heartwarming.

Located in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture, Mebukiya has long upheld the tradition of authentic wagashi-making. This region is well-suited for cultivating grains like wheat and buckwheat, and it boasts the largest production of millet (hie) in Japan. Their signature glutinous rice variety, "Himenomochi," is known for its excellent aroma and texture. By valuing local agricultural products, Mebukiya protects and passes down everyday food culture.

Their unwavering belief is: "Respect good ingredients." Because wagashi are made from simple elements like rice, water, and bean paste, the natural flavor of each ingredient shines through.
