Mr. Naruki Tomori

Ever since that day when I became too conscious of my meals,

Until I realized the “flexibility” that is kind to myself and those around me.

At the organic market Tenbusu in Okinawa City,

Customers come from various regions and have various backgrounds.

"Why would you choose Tenbusu instead of your local supermarket?"

“I wonder what kind of person he is, who is always cheerful.”

Representative Mayeda wanted to know more about the customers, so he brought along the store manager, Mr. Kuniyoshi.

We decided to ask our regular customers to tell us their stories.

The first person we invited was Mr. Nariki Tomori, a raw chocolate craftsman.

She has a cute and friendly smile that captivates everyone around her.

However, behind the scenes there was a troubled past that was longer than expected.

【interviewer】

Mr. Naruki, thank you for your time today.

[Naraki]

thank you.

I didn't expect this to be a serious interview, so I came in my usual clothes (lol).

【interviewer】

not at all! It's okay as usual. Now, I would like to start by asking about Mr. Naruki's occupation.

[Naraki]

yes! please.

In reaction to my fasting, I ate two boxes of chocolate. I collapsed at the entrance.

【interviewer】

Mr. Nariki is a ``raw chocolate craftsman'', but he is making

Can you tell me the difference between raw chocolate and regular chocolate?

[Naraki]

The big difference is whether or not it's roasted.

Normal chocolate is made by roasting beans at a high temperature of over 200 degrees, then adding milk and sugar to it. Raw chocolate is made by drying the beans in the sun without roasting them. The beans I use are from Madagascar, and people in Madagascar dry them in the sun for over two weeks online. The dried cacao beans are then turned into cacao powder using low heat below 48 degrees.

【interviewer】

It's a time-consuming process that involves adding heat slowly and carefully, rather than all at once.

[Naraki]

The definition of raw food is not to heat it above 48 degrees.

Just as human skin can get burned, there is data that shows that plants lose their energy when heated above 48 degrees Celsius. The idea of raw food is to make the most of the power of plants by letting them rest at low temperatures.

【interviewer】

The "raw" in raw chocolate comes from "raw food."

[Naraki]

In my case, I happened to use a method that applied to raw food.

I think it's easier to make at low temperatures, and above all, it tastes better.

I also use coconut instead of white sugar, and switch to maple in the winter. It doesn't contain any additives.

【interviewer】

What made you decide to make your own chocolate?

[Naraki]

It's fasting.

I've loved chocolate ever since I was little, and my dream was to swim in a sea of cacao (lol).

[Kuniyoshi]

Like swimming while eating?

[Naraki]

oh yeah! That's how much I like it.

When I first started to get into fasting, I tried fasting for 20 days, for a total of about 40 days including preparation and recovery meals. After completing all the programs, the limit has already come off! I ate two boxes of store-bought chocolate at once. So, I just collapsed at the entrance.

[Kuniyoshi]

Eh (surprised).

[Naraki]

So, I decided to make chocolate that can be eaten with peace of mind.

Thoughts and lifestyles become rigid due to overreaction to food

【interviewer】

Why did you decide to fast in the first place?

[Naraki]

I had hypothermia all the time, and the temperature was 35.6 degrees, which is normal. I thought it couldn't be helped because of my constitution. But one day I felt really sick and definitely had a fever! I measured it and it was 34.5 degrees! The thermometer was flashing. Then, to improve my condition, I started trying fasting for 3 to 5 days for a week.

[Maeida]

Are you still fasting?

[Naraki]

I do it regularly. But like 3 days. If you do more than that, your muscles will weaken and you'll feel mentally hazy. It's like the balance in my life is disrupted...

There was a time when I had what felt like an eating disorder. I only want to take in natural foods, and I can't even drink water served outside. It's been like that for about a year. I thought this was not right.

【interviewer】

I think my awareness of food had increased significantly, and at that time I was not a regular at Tenbusu.

Did you say that?

[Naraki]

I agree. About three months after I started fasting, I moved to Okinawa City.

I was walking around wondering if there was a good shop, and I found Tenbusu.

[Kuniyoshi]

by chance?

It's not like I searched it on the internet.

[Naraki]

That's right. A year later, Mr. Tenbusu was introduced to Nobuko at Irei Harikyuin (*). a! I know.

*Tenbus sells dietary products recommended by Irei Harikyuin.

【interviewer】

Do you remember your impressions when you first went there?

[Naraki]

It's the best! I tought. I was looking for chocolate. There aren't many places where you can buy organic chocolate, but Tenbusu sells it.

At that time, I remember the store staff telling me, ``Don't be too picky about domestic products! There are times when foreign products are better.''

【interviewer】

It makes me feel better to be told that it's okay to eat this too.

[Naraki]

The more you research about food, the more bad things you find out, and the more you think about it. There were times when I had a strong aversion to meat and thought that additives were the worst.

However, I think that living a flexible life is the best way to be kind to yourself, your loved ones, and those around you. It's been about 6 years since I started being conscious of my diet, but I feel that way now.

【interviewer】

It wasn't like that, it wasn't like that, and it took a lot of trial and error.

[Naraki]

Yes, that's right. I think it's because of that experience that I am the person I am today, feeling relaxed and relieved.

[Maeida]

One day, I just fall, and I feel like I've become more like myself, or rather, I've become more fit. It feels good to see Mr. Naruki looking so clean and refreshed around him.

【interviewer】

Have you noticed any changes since you started fasting or being careful about your diet?

Your body changes, your mind changes.

[Naraki]

Everything has changed.

【interviewer】

All?

Medium_2_DSCF3987.JPG
Medium_3_DSCF3210.JPG
Medium_4_DSCF3172.JPG

[Naraki]

It's all about my life (lol).

Of course my body has changed, but not only has my weight increased or decreased, but my way of thinking and the words I speak have also changed.

【interviewer】

How exactly has your way of thinking changed?

[Naraki]

Becoming one with nature. Do you feel a connection?

I've become more aware of the sensations in my own body...

[Maeida]

Recognize. I'm studying ``Yuisen'', and I hear that fasting is necessary to directly approach ``Yuisen''. Even though I look like this, I am also fasting (lol).

[All together]

(lol)

【interviewer】

So is now the easiest time?

[Naraki]

It's easy, or rather, I'm happy. I don't really pay attention to it now. It's like you have established rules for your own meals and are able to make unconscious choices. I could do it if I wanted to be more stoic, but let it flow and be natural... I'm also concerned about gluten and never eat wheat! There was a time when I felt that way, but now I want to eat bread made by this person.

It takes patience to heal from illness. I believe that if you take the time to face yourself, you will definitely get better.

【interviewer】

What is your favorite Tenbusu product?

[Naraki]

Miso is delicious! I buy soy sauce, miso, and remedies at Tenbusu. And tofu. I also like ginger.

[Maeida]

Ginger is sold in heaps.

[Kuniyoshi]

When I started working, I realized that this is the way to sell things (lol). Some people buy in bulk.

【interviewer】

Do you simply feel "delicious"?

[Naraki]

It's delicious. I believe in something. That product. I wonder if it's okay here. I trust you.

【interviewer】

I would also like to know about changes in my body, but has my basal body temperature increased since I started to pay more attention to what I eat?

[Naraki]

It's up! About 36.8?

[Maeida]

I'm not a baby anymore (lol).

[Naraki]

No, when it was already low, I knew that if I continued like this, I would get sick.

[Kuniyoshi]

I also experienced this when I was young. You'd be surprised at how low it is. But after I started working at Tenbusu and started eating brown rice, my basal body temperature also increased. My intestines are feeling good too.

[Naraki]

After all, people are made of food, right?

[Kuniyoshi]

What should I eat to feel better? People ask me this, but there's no guarantee that eating this will work.

[Maeida]

Meals are different from supplements, so it's important to have a mindset that doesn't require speed. I'm not saying if you'll feel better right away just because you eat this... It's slow and slow.

[Naraki]

That's right.

That story reminded me that I developed atopic dermatitis about two years after I started fasting.

When I bent my arm, blood flowed freely. It's itchy, painful, and extremely painful. At the time, I was working at a restaurant on the base, and because my uniform was short-sleeved, customers who saw my eczema would point at me and say, ``What's that?'' and make unkind comments. My manager also told me to take time off from my part-time job because it seems like I had an infectious disease. My mind and body are in shreds... I tried applying medicine, but the fact that the eczema disappeared within a day made me feel unnatural and scary, so I stopped using it.

It took me two years to get better after patiently trying various things. When I see a child with atopic dermatitis all over their body, I think, ``I understand! But it will definitely be cured.'' Because I don't think there's anything that can't be cured.

【interviewer】

Nariki-san, you have overcome many obstacles through many trials, both failures and successes.

[Naraki]

I read books and study, but I'm a practical person. It was extremely painful because I didn't know when it would end, but I think food taught me the importance of being in tune with my body. That's why I feel that people who are careful about what they eat and who take care of themselves are more trustworthy as people.

Medium_6_DSCF3148.JPG

Life is the best if you can accept the good and the bad comfortably.

【interviewer】

Is there anything you would like to do from now on?

[Naraki]

Hmm. I’m happy just the way I am (lol).

【interviewer】

That's wonderful.

[Naraki]

I'm currently working as a lecturer on femininity. I share things with elementary, junior high and high school students about menstruation, how women's bodies work, the fear of not knowing your own body, and the importance of knowing it. From now on, I want to continue to convey love through various activities and connecting people, and I want to cherish diversity.

【interviewer】

Is it diversity?

[Naraki]

I sometimes call myself a flexitarian.

I wish I could be flexible in my mind and diet, without being a vegetarian or vegan.

[Kuniyoshi]

Do you eat whatever food is served?

[Naraki]

I don't eat meat, but I do eat fish. Because my father is Uminchu.

[Kuniyoshi]

Oh, that's right!

【interviewer】

My final question is that Tenbusu uses the word ``natural style'' as its theme. What kind of state is your natural state for you?

[Naraki]

I guess it's natural to accept everything, good or bad.

If it feels good, life is the best.

[Maeida]

I guess it's kind of like Aufheben, where you can say that both are good, just above the boundaries of good and evil. Our theme is ``Natural Style,'' but we're operating on the premise that we don't know what Natural Style is. What do you think is natural to various customers? I want to keep hearing that.

[Naraki]

Because everyone is different.

[Maeida]

oh yeah. I don't mind if it's different, but through Tenbusu, I might be a little biased right now, or I might be doing well! I think it's nice to feel like they understand me.

[Naraki]

it's the best.

[Kuniyoshi]

I don't usually talk about this in detail, so I'm glad I got to hear about it today. thank you very much. See you at the store.

[Naraki]

Yes!
