Today, we are introducing "Organic Imo Shochu Toyonaga-gura" from Toyonaga Brewery!

Crafted in the rich natural environment of Kumamoto, Organic Imo Shochu Toyonaga-gura is made using organic rice malt from Kumamoto and carefully cultivated organic sweet potatoes (Kogane Sengan) from Hisakita Farm in Kagoshima. Expert brewers meticulously craft this special shochu in small batches, resulting in a rich, refined aroma and a deep, mellow taste. While the natural starchiness of the sweet potatoes makes the brewing process more labor-intensive, it ultimately creates a smooth and crisp finish.

Established in 1894, Toyonaga Brewery has been making shochu using rice grown locally by its own farmers. Since 1986, they have been practicing organic farming, and in 2001, they obtained organic certification. They are dedicated to producing Kuma Shochu, combining sustainable agriculture with traditional brewing techniques.

The Kuma Shochu tradition dates back about 500 years. Today, it remains a rare and prestigious shochu, made exclusively from domestically sourced ingredients and the pure waters of the Kuma region, carrying GI certification. Enjoy this special drink, crafted from nature and history.
