Dried Chirimen from Nagasaki Prefecture!

Hello, this is Tenbusu, the organic market! This is Tembusu from Organic Market☆!

Today we would like to introduce “Nagasaki Prefecture Dried Chirimen” from Yanaga Shoten!

Dried Nagasaki Prefecture Chirimen is made from carefully selected kataguchi sardines and has a moderate saltiness. No antioxidants are used, allowing you to enjoy its natural flavor. Larger in size than most chirimen, it is characterized by its soft texture and exquisite salty taste. It is delicious eaten as is and can be widely used in a variety of dishes such as salads, pasta, fried rice, and vinegared dishes.

Chirimenjako is a juvenile katakuchi sardine, and as it grows, it is called “chirimenjako,” “kaeri,” then “niboshi” or “iriko” (dried sardine). Boiling in seawater condenses the flavor and gives it a rich taste.

Dried chirimen is rich in nutrients such as calcium, vitamin D, protein, DHA, and selenium. These nutrients provide many health benefits, including bone growth and maintenance, muscle building, immunity, dementia prevention, brain development promotion, and thrombosis prevention.
